Why is everybody talking about Heavy Metal Detox? Simple – We live in a world where we are being exposed to tens of thousands of harmful compounds classified as human carcinogens (known or probable) according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, from the air, water, soil and food which include pesticides, herbicides, solvents, petrochemicals, heavy metals, and plastics. Those compounds interact with and are absorbed by soils, bodies of water, vegetation, fish and wildlife and are integrated into plant and animal tissues. As we breathe, eat and drink, we accumulate them into our bodies.
Heavy metals that lead to toxicity (or “poisoning”) are mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, nickel, uranium, copper, tin, and beryllium. They are very dangerous even in low concentrations.
Heavy metals first enter the bloodstream, then travel throughout the body and penetrate the cells of various tissues and organs, where they can remain stored up for years or even indefinitely if not removed.
Chronic diseases related to heavy metal toxicity also called heavy metal poisoning, are now considered a major problem that millions of people deal with. Long term exposure to these metals has been linked to degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
According to the National Institute of Health, exposure to toxic heavy metals is a contributing factor to symptoms like low energy, mood disturbances, and cognitive changes.
Dr. Brian Clement, co-director of the Hippocrates Health Institute believes that most toxic heavy metals including arsenic, lead, and aluminum accumulate in the body and can have detrimental health effects that lead to serious health conditions such as infertility problems, neurological diseases, and cardiovascular diseases.
These metals act as free radicals in the body, damaging healthy cells and encouraging rapid cell death. Healthy cells become unable to regenerate which results in rapid aging and weakened immunity to disease and infection.
No One Is Exempt From Heavy Metal Toxicity
We are all continually exposed, so not only might you need to go through an aggressive detoxification program, but then you need to have some form of a maintenance program to keep up with the continuous exposures. Think of a detox as something that you incorporate into your healthy lifestyle.
How do you treat heavy metal toxicity?
The first and most important method to remove these heavy metals from the body is to eliminate the dietary exposure of these metals. Once sources, to name just a few: Mercury in fish, dental fillings, vaccines – Aluminum in deodorants, prescription drugs, pots and pans, shampoos and skin creams – Cadmium in cigarettes, milk, fungicides, soft drinks – Leadin canned foods, paint, water, of exposure are eliminated, the body’s elimination system will begin to remove the heavy metal buildup in the organs and tissues.
A good detox program will help tremendously. Following a heavy metal detox protocol is one of the best ways to achieve optimum health.
Detox by using a far infrared sauna, skin brushing, and exercising. According to Dr. Brian Clement, using an infrared sauna every day is an outstanding method to detoxify via the skin.
In studies, sweating through exercise has been shown to remove heavy metals in high quantities. A sedentary lifestyle with no sweat excretion is the reason there is more of an accumulation of toxicity.
Get rid of constipation through good hydration, consumption of six to eight servings of fiber every day, colon-hydro therapy, and use of a very high quality living probiotic such as Zana Juice. Ne Ching believes that you should be able to have at least two bowel movements per day in order to have a healthy colon. Hiromi Shinya, in his book Miracle of Enzymes wrote that “all the disease begins in the large intestine.”
Plant-based foods to support your detox:
There are many foods that naturally have chelation properties. Those foods include leafy green veggies (kale, swiss chard, dandelion greens, mustard greens, arugula, spinach or beet greens, broccoli sprouts), herbs & spices (basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and cilantro), sea vegetables and more.
Consume Garlic and onions in abundance because they contain sulfur which helps the liver detoxify itself of heavy metals like lead and arsenic.
Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C can reduce the damage caused by heavy metal toxicity by acting as an antioxidant. High-vitamin C foods include citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruit, leafy greens like spinach and kale, all types of berries, broccoli and cruciferous veggies, kiwi, papaya, guava and bell pepper will assist in the flushing of the heavy metals once bound to a substrate.
Raw Living Spirulina – The Master Substrate of Heavy Metal Detox
Fresh Raw Living Spirulina contains phytonutrients, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin, in their bioavailable whole and unprocessed forms.
Phycocyanin is an extraordinary antioxidant/polypeptide. This accessory to chlorophyll attaches to Spirulina’s membranes to impart the distinctive bluish color. Besides being a pigment, phycocyanin is also a nitrogen storage molecule. The nitrogen atoms bind with heavy metals, such as radioactive cesium-137, strontium-90, and potassium-40, hence “cleansing” these radioactive metals from your body.
Raw Living Spirulina has the amazing ability to help pull heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, from the body tissues, magnetically attracting them from tissues and cells and sending them to the liver where the flushing-out process can begin. This is known as chelation.
By consuming fresh Raw Living Spirulina you will boost your red blood cells and their capacity to transport oxygen. More oxygen means a more efficient body to detox! A bonus the athletes will appreciate!
By promoting and assisting natural daily detoxification, your body’s natural metabolic process will be strong enough to excrete these heavy metals from your system.
A word of caution: Spirulina is like a sponge for heavy metals. We know this to be true because every laboratory test conducted on Spirulina powders showed high levels of heavy metals. (Food Forensics book pages 248-251 detailed report). Most commercial Spirulina powders are grown in very polluted environments like China where the air, water, and processing plants are contaminated to high degrees.
We genuinely care about the quality of our food and are very proud to be part of the clean food movement. We take great pride in making sure our farm, our water, and our Raw Living Spirulina is the highest quality and safest possible. The heavy metal report from Kappa Laboratories, in Miami, shows that Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Zinc, and Mercury compounds were not detected.
We no longer live in the Garden of Eden, and knowledge of toxic environmental pollutants is not optional. So, the key here is to make sure your Spirulina sponge is clean and pure, to begin with, so that it will soak up as much heavy metals from your body as possible without introducing more.
