The date on the lid of your Raw Living Spirulina is a “best by” date, similar to what you’d find on a bag of fresh lettuce.
While it won’t become unsafe to eat for a long time, the quality and potency naturally diminish over time, especially as the cells begin to break down and fermentation starts.
If you don’t see any signs of wetness or a bluish tint, you can freeze the remaining spirulina in single-serve portions, like in ice cube trays. Just remember, once it’s frozen, it can only be thawed once.
